Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) signed a business collaboration agreement (Basic Agreement) with a Japanese shipping company, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK). Director of SPPU Pertamina, A. Salyadi Saputra said this collaboration making NYK a strategic partner, with business collaboration potential for LNG transportation on domestic and international routes.
“This agreement is in line with PIS’ aspirations to become Asian Leading Integrated Marine Logistics Company. To support these aspirations, this year PIS is targeted to be able to collaborate with reputable partners to help develop PIS businesses,” he said in a written statement, Wednesday (19/10/2022).
While PIS CEO Yoki Firnandi added that cooperation with world-class companies such as NYK, of course, could expand PIS’s expansion in the global market as well as develop PIS’s capabilities to become a global company. integrated marine logistics the biggest in Asia.
The selection of NYK as a partner, Yoki continued, was based on consideration of NYK’s big name as Top 2 Gas Carrier Owner in this world.
“NYK has expertise and long experience in the field of LNG transportation, NYK’s advantages are in line with PIS’ needs to develop new business lines that are more environmentally friendly,” he explained.
NYK welcomes the collaboration with PIS which is expected to cover many energy-related business sectors.
Start from the VLCC ship (Very Large Crude Carriers)VLGC (Very Large Gas Carrier)offshore business like Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU), new and renewable energy and fuels, even to the use of technology to reduce CO2 emissions and the application of CCS/CCUS.
With this collaboration, it is hoped that it will provide positive benefits for the PIS business, especially in LNG transportation to support the PIS road map towards green integrated marine logistics company.
For the record, Credit Suisse, CIMB Sekuritas and Mandiri Sekuritas acted as joint financial advisors for PIS for the transaction.
