AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey has been in a relationship with a worker whom he supervised for months, and he said his delay in disclosing it was an “error in judgment.”

Frey, a Democrat, issued a statement late Tuesday in which he said Chief Deputy Attorney General Christopher Taub would supervise the worker moving forward “as this personal relationship continues.”

Bailment in simple words means delivering goods to a particular person without transfer of ownership. It is a technical word or term in common law although etymologically it means overhanding of goods. Anyone who gets custody without possession is not a bailee. Lawyer Xu Zhiyong has spent nearly two decades fighting for human rights in China, and on Monday he was handed one of the longest prison sentences ever issued for civil activism under Xi Jinping’s crackdown on dissent.

Xu was sentenced to 14 years in prison and his long-time partner and fellow rights lawyer, Ding Jiaxi, received a 12-year prison sentence for “subversion of state power,” according to Ding’s wife Luo Shengchun, who lives in the United States and has long campaigned for their release.

Monday’s sentencing came nearly a year after they were tried separately behind
