TMC Compressors (TMC) will deliver marine compressed air systems for six LNG carriers under construction at China’s Jiangnan Shipyard for Abu Dhabi’s ADNOC Logistics & Services
TMC will deliver a complete marine compressed air system to each of the 175,000-m3 vessels, including control and service air compressors. In addition, the compressors will be used to provide feed air to the nitrogen (N2) systems on board the vessels.
“Supported by new environmental regulations and the cost of energy, shipowners are increasingly shifting their investments towards more fuel-efficient vessels. This benefits companies such as TMC, which has spent decades developing energy-efficient compressed air systems,” said TMC director of sales and business development, Hans Petter Tanum.
The LNG carriers will be equipped with emissions-reducing engine technology to curb CO2, NOx and SOx emissions in combination with an air lubrication system, “further reducing fuel consumption by at least 10%”, according to ADNOC Logistics & Services.
TMC will manufacture, assemble and test the marine compressors in Europe before shipping the equipment to Jiangnan Shipyard in China.
“We are the global market leader for delivery of marine compressed air systems, including N2 compressors, to LNG carriers. This market is extremely buoyant at the moment, which places additional pressure on us as suppliers. However, this is a type of positive pressure that we thrive on, and we look forward to supporting Jiangnan Shipyard for these six new builds,” added Mr Tanum.
Jiangnan Shipyard will deliver the LNG carriers in 2025 and 2026.
